Shopwyke North Bridge
Work on site is complete at Shopwyke for the installation of the new shared use pedestrian / cycle bridge over the A27 in Chichester. The 3m wide, 33m long span bridge with 200m of approach ramps provide a safe route across the A27 replacing the previous at-grade crossing. The main span bridge was successfully lifted into position on a single night shift under a full road closure using a 500t mobile crane. Working for Hanbury Properties, for National Highways, the wider scheme included:
Design and build package to highways specification, including Technical Approval drawings, Road Safety Audits and Geotechnical Reports
Co-ordination of gas and water utilities diversions
Piling and pile cap foundation construction
Installation of highway drainage kerbs
Relocation of street lighting
Installation of vehicle restrain systems
Construction of tarmac approach footpaths
Landscaping and planting
Installation of boundary fencing
Booking and co-ordination of traffic management and road space
Co-ordination of crane lifts and temporary works designs
Design, Fabrication and installation of bridge superstructure.
